How to Make your own Healthy Holiday Platter
“Charcuterie boards” are crowd-pleasers, they look beautiful, taste delicious, and guests get to eat what they like. I make them all the time - it’s usually our Friday night dinner when I don’t feel like cooking!
Here are the steps to create a delicious, healthy platter
Cheese
I personally omit cheese when creating boards. However, when having guests I enjoy buying small pieces of quality cheese for them to eat.
Suggested choices: Goat, Smoked Gouda, Sharp Cheddar, Vegan Mozzarella. I like to pair it with a fig spread.
Texture
Bread and Crackers! Such as wholewheat pita bread, artesian bread, and crackers like thin rice, wheat, almond flour, or flax seed.
Salty
My favorite healhty choices are Smoked Salmon, lean turkey or chicken ham, and artesian chicken sausages offering spice and heat to the board.
Sweet
Beautiful seasonal fruits such as berries, apples, and grapes.
Dried fruit such as figs, apricots, dates, pineapple, mangoes
Fruit spreads and jams.
Chocolate! Yes, beautiful dark chocolate or chocolate-covered raisings, chocolate-covered blueberries, Chocolate-covered almonds ..yummy!
Acidic
Think pickled everything!!! I love pickled artichokes, vegetables, and olives ( Kalamata, green stuffed with garlic.
Nutty
Almonds, Cashews, Pecans,
Spreads
Such as Hummus, baba Ganoush, satsiky.
Raw Veggies
Such peppers, carrots, or cucumbers
Pair it with some wine or kombucha,
And enjoy!
